What BLS training covers
High-quality CPR for adults, safe and effective AED use, choking response, the recovery position, and structured emergency assessment — recognising that someone is deteriorating and acting before the situation becomes an arrest. Everything is practised hands-on with instructor feedback; with up to twelve delegates per session, the whole team drills the same skills to the same standard on the same day.
How much does a BLS course cost?
£395 +VAT flat for up to twelve staff at your workplace — about £33 per person for a full group, against typical open-course rates of £50–£90 per delegate plus travel and cover costs. For care providers running BLS across multiple shifts or homes, the flat on-site rate is usually the difference between training everyone and training whoever could be spared.

The compliance position

How long does a BLS certificate last?
Our certificate is valid for three years. Many care and clinical employers refresh BLS annually in line with regulator and commissioner expectations — we'll match whichever cycle your organisation runs.
What's the difference between BLS and first aid at work?
EFAW is the HSE workplace first-aider qualification covering a broad range of injuries and incidents. BLS focuses specifically on life support — CPR, AED, choking, deterioration — at the depth care and healthcare settings need. Care providers often run BLS for all care staff and EFAW for designated first aiders.
Is BLS enough for nurses and clinical staff?
For registered clinical staff in acute or inpatient settings, ILS is usually the expected level; BLS is the standard for care assistants, support workers and non-registered roles. If you're unsure which your staff need, tell us the roles when you enquire and we'll advise.
