Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is the one-day, HSE-recognised qualification that makes someone a certified workplace first aider. Kasorb delivers the course on-site at your workplace anywhere in the UK: £395 +VAT for up to twelve staff, Qualsafe-accredited, with a three-year certificate for every delegate — one six-hour session that takes your whole team from untrained to certified without anyone leaving the building.
This is training booked by employers for teams: offices, care providers, schools, warehouses and manufacturers who need certified first aiders on every shift, trained together in the environment where they'd actually respond.
What the course covers
The full HSE-recognised EFAW syllabus in one six-hour on-site session: the role of the first aider, assessing an incident safely, CPR and AED use, the recovery position, choking, bleeding and shock, minor injuries, and accurate incident recording. Delivery is practical — every delegate practises CPR, the recovery position and AED use with instructor feedback, which is exactly what online-only courses cannot provide and why they don't satisfy the practical-assessment expectation.
How much does an EFAW course cost?
£395 +VAT flat for up to twelve people at your workplace — roughly £33 per person for a full team, compared with typical open-course rates of £90–£130 per delegate plus a day off-site each. One session, everyone certified together, no travel.

The legal position
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require every employer to provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities and personnel. What counts as adequate comes from your first aid needs assessment: the legal minimum is an appointed person, with certified first aiders required where the assessment identifies the need. EFAW is the HSE-recognised route to first aider status for lower-risk workplaces. Our course is Qualsafe-accredited, includes practical assessment by a qualified instructor — which online-only courses cannot provide — and every delegate's record includes learning outcomes and renewal dates, ready for an HSE inspection or insurance audit.
EFAW training FAQs
How long does an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate last?
Three years from the course date. The HSE also recommends an annual refresher skills update to keep practical skills current between requalifications.
How many first aiders does my workplace need?
Your first aid needs assessment decides. The legal minimum for every workplace is an appointed person; certified first aiders are required where the assessment identifies the need — in practice, most workplaces aim for at least one trained first aider available on every shift, with more for higher-risk sites.
Is EFAW enough, or do we need the full First Aid at Work course?
EFAW (one day) is designed for lower-risk workplaces. The full FAW qualification (three days) suits higher-risk environments — manufacturing, construction, sites with dangerous machinery or chemicals. Your risk assessment determines which applies; for most offices, shops, and care settings, EFAW meets the requirement.
Can the course run outside working hours?
Yes — evenings and weekends at no different rate, so cover isn't disrupted.
