The training was fast paced but so good. Everything was repeated constantly so it ensured that we learnt what we were being taught. I had never seen the equipment used to assist with choking section I thought that was great. The training has given me confidence if needed I could help preserve life

Compliance and certification
Successful learners gain two regulated qualifications from Qualsafe, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation: the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) and the Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF). Certificates are issued by the awarding body and are valid for three years; learners retake the qualification before expiry to stay qualified.

Early years settings: Ofsted's early years framework requires at least one person with a full Paediatric First Aid certificate on site — see our two-day Paediatric First Aid course for that.
Entry requirements: staff must be at least 14 on the day. We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require adequate first aid cover for employees, and settings caring for children need cover for them too. Where both apply, this course meets both needs in one day, with two regulated qualifications as evidence.
How we assess learning
Six practical assessments and one multiple-choice theory paper. The practical work involves bending, kneeling and working at floor level, so staff need suitable clothing and footwear. If anyone has an injury or condition that might get in the way, tell us when you book.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and brings adult, child and infant manikins — at least one of each for every four people — AED trainers, and the Qualsafe reference books for every learner.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space — at least a square metre per person
- You provide: a flipchart and pens, and a clear wall or screen for the projector
- Staff bring: photo ID — a photocard driving licence, passport or national ID card
- Group size: 2 to 12
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, on-site only

Frequently asked questions
Why a combined course?
If your staff need first aid for adults and for children, sitting EFAW and Emergency Paediatric First Aid separately means two days and a lot of repetition. This course covers both in one day and leads to both qualifications.
Is it the full Paediatric First Aid early years settings need?
No. It includes the emergency paediatric qualification. Early years settings need at least one person with the full two-day Paediatric First Aid certificate.
Is it accredited?
Yes — always. Both qualifications are Qualsafe Level 3 Awards (RQF), issued by the awarding body.
Do staff need ID?
Yes, photo ID: a photocard driving licence, passport or national ID card.
Can it be done online?
No. CPR, choking and the recovery position have to be practised and assessed in person.
How long do the certificates last?
Three years. Learners retake the qualification before they expire to stay qualified.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
