How it works
When can you come? We confirm bookings within 48 hours — often faster. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date.
Can you work around our shifts? Yes. Evenings, weekends, split sessions, two half-days — all available on request. Nobody takes a whole care home, hotel or production line off the floor at once, and we don't expect you to try.
We've only got seven people. Still £395+VAT. The rate is for the day, not per head. Seven, twelve, or somewhere in between — same price.
What if we need to move it? We'll always try to move it first, and usually can. Full cancellation terms are in our T&Cs — in short, the closer to the date, the less we can recover for the trainer who'd blocked it out.
What if you can't make our date? We'll offer you the closest available dates and work with you to find one that suits. If none of them work, you get a full refund.
When do certificates arrive? The next day, by email. One per person.
We've got six sites. Book them yourself through our booking site at no extra cost, or we'll arrange the lot for a £100+VAT admin fee per course. The day rate is the same either way — it's already keen, so there's no volume discount to give you.

Practical extinguisher training — the £105+VAT add-on
Most fire marshal training stops at the theory of which extinguisher goes on which fire. Ours can go further: outside your building, each of your marshals picks up an extinguisher and discharges it, so they've actually done it before the day it matters.
£105+VAT on top of the £395. It fits within the same three hours.
No live fire by default. Staff practise discharging extinguishers rather than fighting a set fire, so there's no smoke drifting past windows — residents', guests' or customers' — and no reason for a neighbour to dial 999. If you do want a live-fire exercise, we can arrange it — just ask when you book.
One honest caveat: the practical needs suitable outdoor space away from the building — a car park is ideal — and somewhere for the trainer to park. Tell us your site when you enquire and we'll confirm it works before you pay for the add-on, rather than turning up and improvising.

In practice that's usually: care home seniors and shift leads · school site staff and office managers · hotel and hospitality duty managers · warehouse and manufacturing supervisors · dental and GP practice managers · anyone nominated for a floor, a wing or a night shift.
Tailored to your procedures: if you're booking several courses with us, send your fire policies and procedures in advance and the trainer can build the session around them.
How many do you need? There's no figure in law — your fire risk assessment decides it. The working rule most organisations land on is one marshal per floor or fire compartment, per shift, plus cover for absence. A single-floor office with one shift might need two. A care home running three shifts across two floors will need considerably more. If you tell us your building and shift pattern when you enquire, we'll give you a straight answer.
What the law says
Fire safety law requires the responsible person for a premises to provide adequate fire safety training for staff, and to appoint enough suitably trained people to help put fire safety measures in place.
The exact legislation depends where you are: the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales, the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 in Scotland, and the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 with the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010. The duty to train staff and to appoint people to help runs through all of them. Fire marshal training is how you prepare the people you appoint.

How we assess learning
Fire marshal duties are the sort of thing people perform once in a career, if ever — which makes the skills genuinely hard to assess. We do it through scenario work rather than a written test: your marshals walk their own building, identify hazards and escape routes, and talk through an evacuation of your premises, not a generic one. The trainer questions decisions as they go.
With the practical add-on, each person discharges an extinguisher under supervision and gets feedback on technique.

Can this be done remotely?
Yes, for up to 12 people, live with a trainer — not a recorded module. Same course, same certificate. It covers the same legal duties, fire behaviour, risk assessment and evacuation planning.
What it can't do is walk your actual building with your actual marshals, and it can't include the practical extinguisher work. For most sites we'd recommend face-to-face. Remote makes sense when your marshals are spread across locations, or when getting everyone in one room isn't possible.
Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device. Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
Cost explained
£395+VAT for up to 12 people, three hours, at your premises. Practical extinguisher training is £105+VAT more — add it at checkout.
Two courses, one day rate. Fire marshal is a half-day course, and we charge by the day — so the other half of the day can be Fire Safety Awareness for the rest of your staff, at no extra cost.
To put that in context: open fire marshal courses commonly run at £80–£150 a head. Twelve people at £119 each would be over £1,400. Ours is £395+VAT for the whole group — and we come to you, so nobody loses a day travelling.

Do you run our fire drill or fire risk assessment?
No. We walk your marshals through the evacuation process in your building (sweeping, roles, assembly, roll call), but drills are for you to run as the responsible person. Carrying out the fire risk assessment is also a separate role and a separate course. Marshals learn how they feed into it; ask us if you need the assessment course too.
Is it a regulated qualification, and will our insurer accept it?
It leads to a Kasorb certificate of completion for your training file, not a regulated qualification. Kasorb is a member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers. In our experience, insurers and fire risk assessors want evidence that named marshals have been trained, and the certificate plus the training record gives you that.
