Immediate Life Support (ILS) training gives clinical teams the skills to manage a medical emergency in the critical minutes before an ambulance or resuscitation team arrives — recognising deterioration, managing the airway, delivering high-quality CPR and using a defibrillator safely. Kasorb delivers ILS on-site at your workplace anywhere in the UK: £395 +VAT for up to six delegates, RCUK-aligned, with a certificate valid for 12 months.
This is training booked by employers for teams — NHS services, hospitals, care providers and clinics — rather than open courses for individuals: one session, your whole clinical team, trained together on your own site.
What ILS training covers
The course follows the Resuscitation Council UK ILS syllabus: recognising and responding to the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach, managing the airway with basic techniques and adjuncts, high-quality CPR, and safe defibrillation — the skills a first responder needs to manage a cardiac arrest in the minutes before expert help arrives. Sessions are scenario-based and hands-on: with a maximum of six delegates per course, every person is assessed practising, not watching.
How much does an ILS course cost?
£395 +VAT flat for the whole group, up to six people — not per person. Open-course providers typically charge £120–£150 per delegate plus travel time for each staff member; training six people on-site with Kasorb usually halves the real cost and removes a day of rota disruption, because we come to your workplace and train around your shift pattern.
On-site, at your workplace
We deliver across the UK at your own setting — hospital, care home, clinic or practice — using scenarios drawn from your environment. Organisations including the NHS, Priory Group, Elysium Healthcare and Aspris train their teams this way with us. All equipment is brought to you; you provide the room and the people.
Who needs ILS training?
- Registered nurses and clinical staff in hospitals, mental health services and inpatient settings — ILS is the expected resuscitation level for most registered roles
- Dental teams, particularly practices providing conscious sedation, where ILS-level skills for the clinical team are the expected standard
- GP practices and clinics where a medical emergency must be managed in-house until the ambulance arrives
- Mental health and learning disability services — Priory, Elysium and Aspris teams train at this level with us
- Care providers whose risk assessment or commissioners require above-BLS resuscitation cover
Compliance, honestly stated
Our ILS course follows Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and algorithms — the same syllabus, scenarios and standards. We issue a Kasorb certificate on completion; we are not an RCUK-accredited course centre, and if your employer or regulator specifically requires RCUK-branded certification, check before booking. For most providers, what matters is demonstrable competence against RCUK standards with records to evidence it: our documentation is designed for CQC inspection and internal audit, listing learning outcomes, assessment method and renewal date for every delegate.
ILS training FAQs
How long is an ILS certificate valid?
12 months. Annual renewal is the standard set by the Resuscitation Council UK for ILS-level skills, and what CQC inspectors expect to see for clinical staff.
What is the difference between ILS and BLS?
BLS covers CPR, AED use and choking response — the baseline for care and healthcare staff. ILS adds recognition of the deteriorating patient, airway management with adjuncts, and the resuscitation-team skills expected of registered clinical staff. If your staff are nurses, ODPs, dental clinicians or paramedic-adjacent roles, ILS is usually the expected level; for care assistants and support workers, BLS typically meets the requirement.
How long does the course take?
One day on-site, with pre-course reading issued in advance. Most teams run it as a single closed session so the whole clinical team trains together.
Can you train our team at night or on a weekend?
Yes — sessions run around your rota, including evenings and weekends, at no different rate.
