The training was fast paced but so good. Everything was repeated constantly so it ensured that we learnt what we were being taught. I had never seen the equipment used to assist with choking section I thought that was great. The training has given me confidence if needed I could help preserve life

Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion, valid for one year. The course follows Resuscitation Council UK choking guidance first, and teaches LifeVac use in line with your organisation's policy on airway clearance devices. Staff need in-date Basic Life Support before they attend. It isn't a regulated qualification.

Who needs this training
Care, support and education staff in services that have a LifeVac device, especially where people are at higher risk of choking:
- Learning disability and autism services
- Dementia and older people's care
- Services supporting people with dysphagia or swallowing difficulties
- Schools, special schools and children's services
- Mealtime and catering staff in care settings
Everyone needs in-date Basic Life Support before they attend.
We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
No law requires LifeVac training. Resuscitation Council UK's choking guidance is to encourage coughing, then give back blows and abdominal thrusts (chest thrusts for infants), and to start CPR if the person becomes unresponsive — steps that need no equipment. RCUK doesn't currently recommend suction-based airway clearance devices, citing insufficient evidence, and warns they mustn't delay those steps.
If your organisation has decided to provide LifeVac devices, staff need to know your policy on when one is used, and how to use it safely. In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) expects providers to manage risks such as choking, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need. This course gives you training evidence for your file.
How we assess learning
Your trainer reviews learning throughout the session through questions and discussion, and the trainer observes each person's practice of the choking steps and with your LifeVac.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and keeps the order clear: the standard choking steps first, then your device, then CPR if it's needed.

Frequently asked questions
Do we need our own LifeVac?
Yes. Staff train on your own device, so it needs to be in place before the session.
Does it replace choking training?
No. It builds on it. The Resuscitation Council UK steps — coughing, back blows and abdominal thrusts — always come first, and staff revise them before LifeVac.
What's Resuscitation Council UK's position on these devices?
RCUK doesn't currently recommend suction-based airway clearance devices, citing insufficient evidence, and says they mustn't delay the standard steps. The course teaches the standard steps first, and LifeVac in line with your own policy.
Why do staff need Basic Life Support first?
If choking can't be cleared, the person may become unresponsive and need CPR. This course builds on Basic Life Support, so staff need an in-date certificate before they attend.
How do we train a large team?
Run up to three 2-hour sessions of 12 in one day for one £495+VAT rate — up to 36 staff in a single visit.
Can it be done online?
No. It's on-site only, because staff practise with your LifeVac.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
