Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion. It doesn't expire, but we recommend a refresher every three years — or every year for staff who don't use it day to day. It's training that supports your own falls risk assessments and post-fall procedures. It isn't a regulated qualification.

- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics, and to understand your service and the people you support.
- Three hours, with a short break — discussion-based, with case studies.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.

What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) expects providers to assess the risks to people's health and safety and do all that's reasonably practicable to reduce them — and falls are one of those risks. Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need for their role. Care regulators in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own standards, which also expect risks to people's safety to be managed.
NICE's guideline on falls assessment and prevention (NG249) sets out good practice for identifying older people at risk of falling and reducing that risk.
How we assess learning
Learning is assessed throughout the session, through case studies and questions.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and teaches falls prevention in terms of your setting and the people you support, using case studies.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space — for up to 12, with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 per session, on-site or live online
- Timing: morning 09:30–12:30 or afternoon 13:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

More than 24 to train? Book another day at the same flat rate. Several sites? Book each site through our booking site at no extra cost, or we'll arrange them for a £100+VAT admin fee.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cover getting someone up after a fall?
It covers what to do when someone falls, and how to record and report it. It doesn't teach handling techniques — for safe handling and the equipment you use, see Moving & Handling People.
Is it only for care homes?
No. It's for anyone supporting people at risk of falling — in care homes, home care, supported living and hospitals.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff per session — not a recorded module. It's discussion-based, with case studies, so it works well online.
Why not e-learning?
E-learning can list the risk factors. Here, staff work through case studies with a trainer and talk about the people they actually support. For a full group of 12 it works out at around £41 a head.
How long does the certificate last?
It doesn't expire. We recommend a refresher every three years, or every year for staff who don't use it day to day.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. Run two sessions in one day for the same £495+VAT — up to 24 staff.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
