What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 10 (dignity and respect) requires people to be treated with dignity and respect — including their privacy, their independence and their involvement in their own care — and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need for their role. Care regulators in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own standards, which also expect people to be treated with dignity and respect.
How we assess learning
Learning is assessed throughout the workshop: staff apply the principles to scenarios, and the trainer tests understanding through discussion.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the session as a workshop — staff reflect on real situations from everyday care, so the principles turn into things they do differently on shift.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space — for up to 12, with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 per session, on-site or live online
- Timing: morning 09:30–12:30 or afternoon 13:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for new staff?
Yes. It works for new starters, and experienced staff get a lot from the reflection.
What is a Dignity Champion?
Someone who promotes dignity in their service — acting as a role model, challenging poor practice and helping colleagues put dignity first. The course explains the role, so you can choose champions for your team.
How is this different from closed cultures training?
Dignity in care is about how each member of staff protects dignity in everyday care. Closed cultures training looks at the culture of a whole service — how poor practice becomes normal and goes unchallenged.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff per session — not a recorded module. It's a discussion-based workshop, so it works well online.
Why not e-learning?
E-learning can list the principles. Dignity is learned by talking through real situations, with a trainer leading the reflection and answering questions about your own service. For a full group of 12 it works out at around £41 a head.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. Run two sessions in one day for the same £495+VAT — up to 24 staff.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
