Kasorb ran a 4 Day Eating Disorder Training Course which was very informative and I would definitely recommend. There were some memorable takeaways, great discussions and it was really well led by a knowledgeable facilitator. Thanks Tanya and the team!

How it works
- Enquire with your postcode, group size and preferred dates. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Choose your option — the one-day meal support course or the four-day intermediate programme — and confirm the price and dates.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics, and to understand your service and the people you support.
- The training: discussion, case studies and role play, with the subject handled with care.
- Certificates are emailed the next day — for the four-day programme, the day after the final day.
What the course covers
Meal support (one day):
- Types of eating disorder: anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID and others
- How eating disorders affect the body, and medical risk
- Supporting meals and snacks: before, during and after
- Language and responses that help — and those that don't
- Working with families and carers
- Staff wellbeing and boundaries
Intermediate programme (four days): the meal support content in more depth, with more time for case studies, co-occurring conditions (including self-harm awareness) and complex situations.
Who needs this training
- Staff in mental health wards and eating disorder services
- Residential children's services and supported living teams
- Care and support staff who supervise meals and snacks
- Team leaders and senior staff working with eating disorders every day (the four-day programme)
We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
The Royal College of Psychiatrists' guidance on medical emergencies in eating disorders (MEED) sets out what staff need to know about physical risk, and NICE's guideline on eating disorders (NG69) covers recognition and treatment. In England, CQC's Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need to support people safely.
How we assess learning
The trainer reviews learning through role play, case studies and questions throughout.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and handles the subject with care — avoiding numbers and details that could cause harm, and allowing for staff who may have their own experience of eating disorders.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space for the role play
- The trainer brings: all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12, on-site or live online
- Timing: one day for meal support, or four days for the intermediate programme; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy
