Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion for your training file. It doesn't expire, but we recommend a refresher after three years, or every year for staff who don't record ECGs day to day. It's awareness-level training in recording and reviewing ECGs, not diagnostic interpretation, which stays with the appropriate clinician. It isn't a regulated qualification. The training counts towards staff CPD.

What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) expects the people providing care and treatment to have the qualifications, competence, skills and experience to do so safely. A poorly recorded ECG — leads misplaced, or a noisy trace — can mislead the clinician reviewing it, which is why the recording itself matters. A training record, followed by your own competency sign-off, shows staff have been trained to do it properly. Care regulators in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland expect the same of the services they inspect.
How we assess learning
Staff practise placing leads and recording ECGs on the manikin, with feedback from the trainer, and understanding is tested through questions and discussion.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, as a clinical professional. They bring a 12-lead ECG machine and manikin for the hands-on practice.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is space around the manikin for the practice, and a clear wall or screen
- The trainer brings: a 12-lead ECG machine and manikin
- Group size: 2 to 12

- Anywhere in the UK, on-site
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy
Cost explained
Clinical courses are priced by location: they're taught by specialist clinical trainers, and the price depends on where you are and how far your trainer needs to travel. Send us your postcode and team size and we'll confirm the price within 48 hours. It's one price for the group, up to 12 staff — not per person.
More than 12 staff? We'll quote for another session.

Frequently asked questions
Awareness session or full day — which do we need?
The 3-hour session covers recording ECGs and the basics of review. Choose the full day for more practice time, and more on arrhythmias and care pathways.
Will staff learn to interpret ECGs?
They'll learn to record a good trace and recognise common arrhythmias. Diagnostic interpretation stays with the appropriate clinician.
Do we need our own ECG machine?
No. Your trainer brings a 12-lead ECG machine and a manikin for the practice.
What happens after the ECG is recorded?
The course covers ECG care pathways: who reviews the trace, how to communicate what you've found, and how to document it and reflect it in the person's care plan.
Does this course sign staff off?
Your team leaves trained, with a certificate to show it. Your own competency sign-off, against your policies, is the final step before staff record ECGs on their own.
Can it be done online?
No. The hands-on practice needs the machine and manikin, so it's on-site only.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
