Compliance and certification
The requalification renews the First Aid at Work certificate for three years — as a Kasorb certificate of completion, or the Qualsafe Level 3 Award, if you choose accreditation. Certificates that expired within the last 28 days can usually requalify on the two-day course; after that, the full three-day course is needed. The annual refresher isn't a legal requirement, but HSE strongly recommends it.

How it works
- Enquire for the right course — the two-day requalification before the three-year certificate expires (or within 28 days after), or the half-day annual refresher in between. We'll confirm within 48 hours.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics.
- Requalification: two days, 09:30–17:00, with practical and written assessment. Refresher: half a day, 09:30–12:30 or 13:30–16:30 — and as it's a day rate, two refresher sessions in one day train up to 24 staff for the same price.
- Certificates are emailed the next day; Qualsafe certificates are issued by the awarding body.
What the course covers
Requalification (two days): the role and responsibilities of a first aider · CPR and defibrillation · managing an unresponsive casualty · the recovery position · choking · burns and scalds · wounds, bleeding and shock · broken bones, fractures and dislocations · seizures and epilepsy · anaphylaxis · asthma · stroke · heart attack · minor injuries.
Annual Refresher (half day): assessing an incident · managing an unresponsive casualty · the recovery position · CPR and defibrillation · choking · seizures.
Who needs this training
First aiders with a First Aid at Work certificate approaching its three-year expiry (requalification), and all qualified first aiders wanting to refresh their skills (refresher).
What the law says
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require adequate first aid provision, decided by your risk assessment. HSE guidance describes First Aid at Work as the course for workplaces with higher risks or more employees. Certificates last three years, and HSE strongly recommends annual refreshers. A two-day requalification option is available if taken before the certificate expires.
How we assess learning
Requalification: practical assessments and a multiple-choice theory paper, as for the full course. Annual refresher: practical, with skills checked as you go. Both involve CPR at floor level, so staff need suitable clothing and footwear.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and brings everything needed for the practical.

Frequently asked questions
My certificate has expired — can I still requalify?
If it expired within the last 28 days, you can usually take the two-day requalification. If it expired more than about a month ago, you'll need the full three-day course. Either way, nobody can hold the role of a first aider once their certificate has expired, until they've passed.
Is the refresher compulsory?
HSE strongly recommends it, but it isn't a legal requirement. It keeps the key skills and knowledge up to date between requalifications.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
