Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion, valid for one year. Staff leave fully trained and certified, ready for your usual in-house competency sign-off, and nurses can use it towards their CPD. It isn't a regulated qualification.

- A full day, 09:30–16:30, with breaks.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
What the course covers
- Anatomy and physiology of different skin types
- Essential skin care, and the risks of poor hydration and nutrition
- The difference between pressure ulcers and moisture-associated lesions: causes and the areas of most concern
- Assessing and identifying an ulcer or lesion
- Escalating concerns to the right professional
- The principles of wound healing, and choosing and applying dressings
Who needs this training
Staff who assess and care for wounds:
- Registered nurses of all grades in nursing homes, hospitals and the community
- Nursing associates and senior carers who apply dressings
- Clinical leads responsible for pressure ulcer prevention
For care staff who need prevention and early recognition only, see our Wound Care & Pressure Ulcer Prevention course. We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) expects providers to assess and reduce risks to people's health, which includes preventing avoidable pressure damage, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need for their role. Care regulators in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland set similar expectations, and serious pressure damage can also raise safeguarding concerns.
Registered nurses must keep their knowledge and skills up to date under the NMC Code, and this training can count towards their CPD.
How we assess learning
Your trainer tests understanding throughout the day through questions, discussion and case examples.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and teaches tissue viability in terms of the wounds your staff actually see — so assessment, dressing choice and escalation fit your service.
Logistics
- Room: seating for up to 12, horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space, with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12, on-site or live online
- Timing: 09:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Who is it for?
Nurses of all grades who care for wounds, and senior carers or support workers who apply dressings. It isn't designed for qualified tissue viability nurses.
How is this different from Wound Care & Pressure Ulcer Prevention?
Wound Care & Pressure Ulcer Prevention is our course for care staff: skin care, spotting early pressure damage and knowing when to escalate. Tissue Viability goes further for nurses — assessing wounds and choosing and applying dressings.
Does it cover telling pressure ulcers from moisture lesions?
Yes. Staff learn the causes of each, the areas of most concern, and how to assess and identify them — the distinction that drives the right treatment and the right reporting.
Why is the certificate valid for a year?
Wound care practice and dressings move on, and pressure ulcer prevention is closely watched — an annual refresh keeps staff current.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff — not a recorded module.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. Book another day at the same flat rate.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
