Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion. We recommend refreshing every three years, or sooner if your own policy requires. It's awareness training for staff supporting people with an acquired brain injury. It isn't a regulated qualification.

What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 9 (person-centred care) expects care to meet people's needs and reflect their preferences, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need to support the people in their care. Care regulators in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own standards with the same expectation.
A brain injury can affect a person's capacity to make some decisions. In England and Wales, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 sets out how to assess capacity and support decision-making, and in Scotland the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 does the same.
How we assess learning
Your trainer tests understanding throughout the session through case studies, discussion and questions.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and teaches brain injury in terms of the people you support — so staff understand the hidden effects and know how to respond day to day.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating for up to 12 — what matters is clear floor space — with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 per session, on-site or live online
- Timing: half day 09:30–12:30 or 13:30–16:30, or a full day 09:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Half day or full day?
Both cost the same. Half a day gives staff a solid awareness; choose the full day for teams specialising in brain injury care, with more time for case studies and discussion.
Why does behaviour change after a brain injury?
Damage to the brain can affect memory, concentration, impulse control and mood, so behaviour that looks deliberate is often a direct effect of the injury. The course helps staff understand what's behind it and respond in a way that helps.
Does it cover neurological observations?
No. It's an awareness course for care and support staff; neurological observations are a clinical skill and aren't covered.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff per session — not a recorded module. It's discussion- and case study-based, so it works well online.
How long does the certificate last?
We recommend refreshing every three years, or sooner if your own policy requires.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. For a half day, run two sessions in one day for the same £495+VAT — up to 24 staff. For a full day, book another day at the same flat rate.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
