Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion for your training file, and the training counts towards staff CPD. It isn't a regulated qualification. How long the certificate stays current is set by your policy — we'll recommend a refresh interval when you enquire. Your team leaves trained and ready for the usual final step with any clinical skill: your own supervised competency sign-off against your policies.

How it works
- Enquire with your postcode and team size. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Agree the details: we confirm the session length and what's needed for the practical with you when you book. If you'd like the trainer to work from your own policy, send it at least 7 days before the course.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and anything specific to your setting, and arrives early to set up.
- On the day: theory first, then hands-on practice under the trainer's observation, with feedback.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.

What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) expects staff who carry out clinical tasks to have the training to do them safely, Regulation 10 (dignity and respect) covers privacy during intimate care, and Regulation 18 (staffing) covers staff training. Regulators in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have similar expectations. Bowel care training, followed by your own supervised competency sign-off, gives you a training record for your files.
Consent comes first in intimate care. Where someone may lack capacity to consent, staff follow the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in England and Wales, or the equivalent law elsewhere in the UK.
How we assess learning
Staff practise the procedure under the trainer's observation, with feedback. The trainer asks questions and leads discussion throughout to confirm understanding. After the course, your own supervised competency sign-off, against your policies, completes the process before staff carry out the procedure on their own.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real. They're one of our specialist clinical trainers, and they keep the focus on safe practice, consent and dignity.

Cost explained
Clinical courses are priced by location: they're taught by specialist clinical trainers, and the price depends on where you are and how far your trainer needs to travel. Send us your postcode and team size and we'll confirm the price within 48 hours. It's one price for the group, up to 10 staff — not per person — and it covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials.
More than 10 staff? We'll run another session on another day at the same rate.

Frequently asked questions
Does this course sign staff off to give suppositories on their own?
Your team leaves trained, with a certificate to show it. As with any clinical skill, the final step is your own supervised competency sign-off in practice, against your policy, before staff give suppositories on their own.
Can senior carers give suppositories?
That depends on your organisation's policies and how clinical tasks are delegated in your service. Many services train senior carers for it, followed by a supervised sign-off. If you're unsure, look at your policy first — we're happy to talk it through.
Does this include digital rectal stimulation?
No. This course doesn't cover digital rectal stimulation.
How is this different from continence care training?
Continence care covers supporting people with bladder and bowel continence more broadly, including products and skin care. This course focuses on bowel care: monitoring, records, recognising problems and giving suppositories.
We've got more than 10 staff. Can you train them all at once?
Up to 10 per session, so everyone gets proper hands-on practice with feedback. For a bigger team, we'll run another session on another day at the same rate.
What do we need to provide, and is there anything else to pay?
A room with a table for the practical, and anything we agree with you for the practical when you book. The price we quote covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials, so there are no surprise extras.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
