Influencing skills training for your team, on-site or live online
Full day · Up to 12 staff · Persuading and negotiating without authority · Quoted for your team
Influencing skills training helps managers and staff persuade, negotiate and build support for ideas — including with colleagues they don't manage, senior leaders and people outside the organisation. Over a full day, staff learn to understand stakeholders, adapt their style, build a persuasive case and handle resistance, then practise on real situations from their own work. Kasorb delivers it on-site or live online, for up to 12 staff. Quoted for your team.

How it works
- Enquire with your postcode, group size and preferred dates. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Confirm your date, and whether you'd like the session on-site or live online.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and understand your team and setting. Tell us about a change or proposal your staff need to win support for, and the trainer can use it in the practice scenarios.
- A full day (09:30–16:30), with short inputs, group discussion and practice scenarios.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
What the course covers
- What influence is, and where it comes from when you don't have authority
- Understanding stakeholders: who matters, what they care about and where they stand
- Influencing styles, and adapting yours to the person and the situation
- Building a persuasive case
- Negotiation basics
- Handling resistance and objections
- Practice scenarios, using situations from your own work
By the end, your staff will be able to:
- map the people they need to influence, and what matters to each of them
- plan and build a clear, persuasive case
- respond to resistance without damaging the relationship
Who needs this training
Managers, team leaders, project leads and professionals who need buy-in from people they don't directly manage, for example:
- Managers introducing a new process across teams or sites
- Quality, compliance and practice leads who need others to change how they work
- Team leaders making the case for resources to senior leaders
- Staff who work across departments or with partner organisations
It suits any workplace, including health and care services.
We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
There's no legal requirement for influencing skills training. It's a development course for managers and staff who need to win support for ideas and changes. In health and care services in England, CQC's Regulation 18 (staffing) expects staff to receive the training and professional development they need for their role, and a course like this can form part of a manager's development plan.
It isn't a regulated qualification.
How we assess learning
The trainer reviews learning throughout the day through practice, questions and discussion. Each person applies the tools to a real situation from their own work and agrees an action plan with the trainer.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the day as a workshop, not a lecture — with plenty of practice on the situations your staff actually face.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space for the group exercises
- You provide: a room for up to 12, with a screen or blank wall for slides
- The trainer brings: the course materials and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12, face to face or live online
- Timing: 09:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Is it only for managers?
No. It's for anyone who needs buy-in from people they don't manage — project leads, practice and quality leads, and staff who work across teams or with partner organisations.
Does this cover influencing senior leaders?
Yes — including building a case for directors and boards.
Does it cover negotiation?
Yes, the basics: preparing, finding common ground and reaching an agreement both sides can work with. It isn't an advanced commercial negotiation course.
How is this different from presentation skills training?
Presentation skills is about delivering a message to a group with confidence. Influencing skills is about winning support — often one to one or in meetings — from people who may disagree with you or who you don't manage. The two work well together.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff. The practice scenarios work well online. Each person needs a quiet space and a device with camera and audio.
What do we need to provide, and is there anything else to pay?
A room for up to 12 with a screen or blank wall for slides — or, for live online, a device with camera and audio for each person joining. There's nothing else to pay: the price covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials.
How quickly can you come?
We'll come back with a price within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates. If you need something sooner, just ask.
