Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion, which doesn't expire. We recommend a refresher every three years, or every year for staff who don't use it day to day. It's awareness training for support staff, not therapy training. It isn't a regulated qualification.

How it works
- Book online. One session, or two in one day, on-site or live online. We'll confirm within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics, and to understand your service and the people you support.
- Three hours, with a short break, including case studies.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
What the course covers
- What OCD is
- Causes

Who needs this training
Health and social care staff who support people living with OCD:
- Mental health inpatient, community and supported living teams
- Learning disability and autism services
- Residential and domiciliary care staff
- Children's services and education settings
- Team leaders who plan support for people with OCD
We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
No law requires OCD awareness training specifically. But in care settings in England, CQC's Regulation 9 (person-centred care) expects support to meet each person's needs, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need to do that. For people living with OCD, staff who understand the condition are better placed to support them without making compulsions worse.
The course gives you training evidence for your file.
How we assess learning
Your trainer reviews learning throughout the session through case studies and questions.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and uses case studies that reflect the people your staff support — so staff leave knowing how to respond, not just what OCD is.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space — with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 per session, on-site or live online
- Timing: morning 09:30–12:30 or afternoon 13:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy
Cost explained
£495+VAT for the day. It's a day rate: one trainer, one day, the same price for one half-day session or two. Run two sessions, morning and afternoon, and train up to 24 staff while the rest of the team covers the floor.
More than 24 to train? Book another day at the same flat rate. Several sites? Book each site through our booking site at no extra cost, or we'll arrange them for a £100+VAT admin fee.
Frequently asked questions
Is this therapy training?
No. It's awareness training for support staff. It doesn't train staff to deliver therapy.
What does "not reinforcing compulsions" mean in practice?
Well-meant reassurance or joining in with rituals can keep OCD going. Staff learn to recognise this and respond in ways that support the person and their treatment plan.
Does it cover OCD alongside other conditions?
Yes — how OCD fits with other conditions, including anxiety, depression and autism, and what that means for support.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff per session — not a recorded module.
How is this different from Mental Health Awareness?
Mental Health Awareness covers a range of conditions. This course goes deeper on OCD alone.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. Run two sessions in one day for the same £495+VAT — up to 24 staff.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
