Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion, valid for two years, with an annual refresher recommended. It's awareness training that helps staff support people affected by trauma; it doesn't train them to diagnose or treat PTSD. It isn't a regulated qualification.

What the law says
In care settings in England, CQC's Regulation 9 (person-centred care) expects care to meet each person's needs, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need to support people safely — including people living with the effects of trauma. NICE's guideline on post-traumatic stress disorder sets out how PTSD should be recognised and treated, and the support people should be offered.
Staff who understand trauma can recognise its effects, avoid re-traumatising the people they support, and plan care around them — and the training gives you evidence for your training file.
How we assess learning
Learning is checked through discussion, scenarios and questions throughout the day.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the day as a discussion, not a lecture. The subject is handled with care — some staff may have their own experience of trauma, and the trainer allows for that.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating for up to 12 — what matters is clear floor space — with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12, on-site or live online
- Timing: 09:30–16:30, with breaks; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Is this trauma-informed care training?
Yes. It's built around the principles of a trauma-informed approach, as well as understanding PTSD itself.
Does it train staff to treat PTSD?
No. Diagnosis and treatment are for qualified clinicians. Staff learn how PTSD is managed, so they understand the support someone may be receiving, and how to support people safely day to day.
Is it for children's services?
It covers adults and young people, including adverse childhood experiences. For staff and carers looking after children in care, see our Therapeutic Parenting course.
How is this different from mental health awareness training?
Mental health awareness covers mental health and common conditions across a whole team. This course goes deep on trauma and PTSD, and how to work in a trauma-informed way.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff — not a recorded module.
Why not e-learning?
Trauma is a sensitive subject, and the learning that sticks comes from discussion. A trainer talks your team through why people react as they do, and how to respond, with time for questions about the people they support. For a full group of 12 it works out at around £83 a head.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask — live online often has more dates available.
