How it works
- Book online for live online training, or ask us for on-site delivery. We'll confirm within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics, and to understand your service and the children and young people you care for.
- One day (6 hours), with breaks — discussion-based, applying the theory to real situations.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.

What the law says
In England, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and their Quality Standards expect staff to understand each child's needs, build positive relationships with them and help them manage their feelings and behaviour — and Ofsted inspects against them. Fostering services must make sure foster carers are trained and supported to meet the needs of the children in their care. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own regulations and inspectorates.
Training in trauma, attachment and therapeutic responses helps staff and carers meet those expectations, and gives you evidence for your training file.
How we assess learning
Learning is checked through discussion, scenarios and questions throughout the day.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the day as a discussion — turning the brain science into practical responses staff and carers can use with the children they look after.
Logistics
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- On-site, on request: horseshoe or classroom seating for up to 12 — what matters is clear floor space — with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12, live online or on-site
- Timing: 09:30–16:30, with breaks; staff arrive or log in 15 minutes early
- Access: on-site, the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Is this PACE training?
PACE — playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy — is a core part of the course, alongside the neuroscience and attachment theory that explain why it works.
Is it suitable for foster carers?
Yes. It's for anyone caring for a child or young person affected by trauma — foster carers, supervising social workers and residential children's home staff.
Is this Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) training?
The course includes an introduction to the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. It isn't NMT certification.
Can you deliver it on-site?
Yes, on request, for up to 12 staff at the same flat rate — ask us. The Book button books the live online version, with a trainer, not a recorded module.
How is this different from PTSD and trauma-informed care training?
PTSD and trauma-informed care covers trauma across adults and young people in health and care services. This course is for the people caring for children day to day, and focuses on attachment, regulation and therapeutic responses such as PACE.
Why not e-learning?
Responding therapeutically is about how you talk and react in the moment, which is hard to learn from slides. A trainer works through real situations with your team and answers questions about the children they care for. For a full group of 12 it works out at around £83 a head.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask — live online often has more dates available.
