How it works

  1. Enquire with your postcode, group size and preferred dates. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates. If you need something sooner, just ask.
  2. Confirm your date, and whether you'd like the session on-site or live online.
  3. Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and understand your team and setting. Tell us about your organisation and what you're trying to improve, so the day uses relevant examples.
  4. A full day (09:30–16:30), discussion-based, with practical diagnostic exercises and time to plan an improvement.
  5. Certificates are emailed the next day.

What the course covers

  • What organisational development is
  • Diagnosing the organisation: how it really works
  • Culture and values
  • Engagement and involving staff
  • Planning and evaluating interventions
  • Action planning

By the end, your staff will be able to:

  • explain what organisational development is and where it fits
  • use simple diagnostic questions to understand how their organisation works
  • plan an improvement that involves staff, and decide how to evaluate it

Who needs this training

Senior managers, HR and quality leads shaping culture and structure, for example:

  • Senior and operations managers
  • HR and people leads
  • Quality and improvement leads
  • Registered managers and directors in growing care groups

It suits any organisation, including health and care providers.

We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.

What the law says

There's no legal requirement for organisational development training. In England, CQC's Regulation 17 (good governance) expects health and care providers to assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of their services, and CQC looks at leadership and culture when it judges whether a service is well-led. OD gives leaders practical tools for that improvement work.

It isn't a regulated qualification.

How we assess learning

The trainer reviews learning throughout the day through practice, questions and discussion. Each person applies the tools to a real situation from their own work and agrees an action plan with the trainer.

Your trainer

Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the day as a discussion, not a lecture — built around the culture and improvement questions your leaders are facing.

Logistics

  • Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space for the group exercises
  • You provide: a room for up to 12, with a screen or blank wall for slides
  • The trainer brings: the course materials and all general training equipment
  • Group size: up to 12, face to face or live online
  • Timing: 09:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
  • Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
  • Anywhere in the UK, or live online
  • Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
  • More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
  • Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions

Who is this for?

Senior managers, HR and quality leads shaping culture and structure, rather than frontline teams.

Is this an OD qualification?

No. It's a one-day introduction to the principles and tools of OD, with a Kasorb certificate of completion.

How is this different from change management training?

Change management is about leading a specific change through a team. Organisational development looks wider: how the whole organisation works, its culture, and planned improvement over time.

How is this different from closed cultures training?

Closed cultures training helps staff at every level recognise and prevent a closed culture, where poor practice and abuse can go unchallenged. Organisational development is for leaders shaping culture and improvement across the organisation as a whole.

Can it be done online?

Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff. It's discussion-based, so it works well online, and it suits leaders based across several sites. Each person needs a quiet space and a device with camera and audio.

What do we need to provide, and is there anything else to pay?

A room for up to 12 with a screen or blank wall for slides — or, for live online, a device with camera and audio for each person joining. There's nothing else to pay: the price covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials.

How quickly can you come?

We'll come back with a price within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates. If you need something sooner, just ask.
