How it works
- Enquire with your postcode, group size, preferred dates and the courses you'd like. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Confirm your dates — one day for each course.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and understand what your managers find hardest.
- Each course is a full day, 09:30–16:30, with breaks.
- Certificates are emailed the next day after each course.
What the course covers
Five one-day courses — each a separate day:
- New Team Leader: the move from colleague to leader, setting expectations and communicating with your team
- Delegation Skills: what to hand over, to whom, and how to follow up
- Performance Management: objectives, feedback and difficult conversations
- Coaching Skills: coaching conversations, and a simple structure for running them
- Team Building: trust, roles and working together
Who needs this training
New and developing managers in any workplace:
- Newly promoted team leaders and supervisors
- Aspiring managers being prepared for promotion
- Experienced managers who have never had management training
- Shift leaders and senior staff in health and care services
We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
No law requires management training. In England, CQC's well-led key question looks closely at leadership, culture and governance in registered services, and Regulation 18 (staffing) expects staff to receive appropriate support, supervision and appraisal — both depend on capable managers.
More widely, HSE's Management Standards for work-related stress include the support staff get from their managers. Training gives new managers practical tools, and gives you a record for your training file.
How we assess learning
The trainer reviews learning through questions and discussion. Staff apply the tools to their own team and agree an action plan with the trainer.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and builds each day around the situations your managers actually face — so the tools fit your organisation, not a generic one.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating — what matters is clear floor space, with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 per course, on-site or live online
- Timing: 09:30–16:30 for each course; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Can we build a programme?
Yes. Choose the courses you need — each is a separate day, quoted for your team — and we can schedule them across weeks or months.
Do the courses need to be taken in order?
No. Each one stands alone. For new managers, New Team Leader is a natural starting point.
Can the courses be tailored?
Tell us what your managers find hardest and the trainer builds examples around it.
Are they suitable outside health and care?
Yes. The courses suit managers and team leaders in any workplace. For health and care services, the trainer uses examples from your kind of service.
Do you have a course on supervision?
Yes — Supervision and Appraisal is a separate full-day course for people who supervise staff or run appraisals.
Can they be done online?
Yes. Each course can run live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff — not a recorded module.
How quickly can you come?
