Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion. We recommend refreshing every three years, or every year for staff who don't use these skills day to day. It's awareness training for staff supporting people living with Parkinson's. It isn't a regulated qualification.

What the law says
NICE's guideline on Parkinson's disease in adults sets out how people with Parkinson's should be supported, including the importance of getting medicines on time. In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) covers the proper and safe management of medicines, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need for their role.
Care regulators in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own standards, which also expect staff to be trained to meet people's needs.
How we assess learning
Your trainer tests understanding throughout the session through case studies and questions.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and teaches Parkinson's in terms of the people you support — from daily routines to medicines on time.
Logistics
- Room: horseshoe or classroom seating for up to 12 — what matters is clear floor space — with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 per session, on-site or live online
- Timing: morning 09:30–12:30 or afternoon 13:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

More than 24 to train? Book another day at the same flat rate. Several sites? Book each site through our booking site at no extra cost, or we'll arrange them for a £100+VAT admin fee.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cover time-critical medicines?
Yes. Staff learn why Parkinson's medicines need to be given on time, and what a late or missed dose can mean for the person's movement, swallowing and wellbeing. How staff give medicines is covered by our Medication Administration course.
Is Parkinson's the same as parkinsonism?
No. Parkinsonism is an umbrella term for conditions that cause movement symptoms similar to Parkinson's. Parkinson's is the most common cause, and the course covers the different types.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff per session — not a recorded module. It's knowledge- and discussion-based, so it works well online.
Why not e-learning?
E-learning can describe the symptoms of Parkinson's. Here, a trainer talks your team through what it's like to live with the condition, works through case studies, and answers questions about the people you support. For a full group of 12 it works out at around £41 a head.
How long does the certificate last?
We recommend refreshing every three years, or every year for staff who don't use these skills day to day.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. Run two sessions in one day for the same £495+VAT — up to 24 staff. For more than 24, book another day at the same flat rate.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
