Professional boundaries training for up to 12 staff (10 online), £995+VAT flat
One day · On-site or live online · Built around the situations your staff face
Professional boundaries training helps health and social care staff understand where the professional relationship begins and ends, and what happens when it's crossed. It works through the grey areas staff actually face — gifts, social media, personal disclosure and dual relationships — and what overstepping the mark looks like. Kasorb delivers it in a full day, on-site or live online. £995+VAT covers up to 12 staff (10 online).
- Built around the situations your staff actually face, not abstract theory
- Gifts, social media and personal disclosure: where the line is, and why
- What overstepping the mark looks like, and what to do about it
- A full day for up to 12 staff on-site, or 10 live online
- Certificates emailed the next day

Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion. We recommend refreshing every three years, or sooner if your own policy requires. It's training for staff who work closely with the people they support, so they understand where the professional relationship begins and ends. It isn't a regulated qualification.

Course specification
How it works
- Book online. On-site or live online. We'll confirm within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date — live online offers the best availability of dates.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics, and to understand your service and the people you support. If you'd like the day to reflect your own policies — on gifts, social media or lone working, for example — send them in advance.
- One day, 09:30–16:30, discussion-based, working through real scenarios.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
What the course covers
- The professional relationship and its characteristics
- Building a profile of someone you work with day to day
- Understanding the professional relationship with the people you support
- The implications of overstepping the mark
- Role descriptions — are we clear?
- Professional interactions that achieve good outcomes
Who needs this training
All health and social care staff who work directly with the people they support — especially in learning disability, mental health, supported living and children's services, where relationships are close and long-term. Team leaders and managers who need to set clear expectations will benefit too.
We recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy.
What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 13 requires registered providers to protect people from abuse and improper treatment, and Regulation 18 expects staff to have the training they need to do their jobs. Clear professional boundaries are part of both: when boundaries blur, people can be left open to harm, and poor practice is harder to challenge.
Professional codes set the same expectation. The NMC Code expects nurses to keep clear professional boundaries with the people in their care and their families, and the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England sets out the standards of conduct expected of care and support staff.
How we assess learning
Learning is checked throughout the day through discussion and scenarios.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the day as a discussion, not a lecture — working through the situations your staff actually face, from gifts and social media to personal disclosure, so they leave clear on where the line is and what to do if it's crossed.
Logistics
- Room: seating for up to 12, classroom style, with a projector screen or blank wall
- The trainer brings: projector, laptop, flipchart and all general training equipment
- Group size: up to 12 face to face, 10 online
- Timing: 09:30–16:30; staff arrive 15 minutes early
- Access: the trainer needs the room 45 minutes before the start
- Anywhere in the UK, or live online
- Live online: a quiet space and a device with camera and audio for each person joining — ideally one device each, and never more than two people per device
- More dates online: live online often has more dates available, so it's worth asking if you need training sooner or have people across several locations
- Literacy: we recommend at least Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable after a boundary concern or incident?
Yes. It can be delivered as general training for the whole team, so no one is singled out. Let us know when you book and your trainer will take it into account.
Does it cover social media and gifts?
Yes. The everyday grey areas are where most boundary questions come from, and they're at the heart of the scenarios.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 10 staff — not a recorded module. It's discussion-based, so it works well online.
How is this different from safeguarding training?
Safeguarding Adults teaches staff to recognise, report and record abuse and neglect. This course is about the everyday relationship between staff and the people they support — where the line sits, and how blurred boundaries can put people at risk. Many services book both.
How long does the certificate last?
We recommend refreshing every three years, or sooner if your own policy requires.
Can we train more than 12?
Yes. Book another day at the same flat rate.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
