Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion for your training file. It isn't a regulated qualification. How often staff refresh is set by your policy, and we'll recommend a refresh interval when you enquire. Your team leaves fully trained and ready for the usual final step with any clinical skill: your own supervised competency sign-off against your policies. The training counts towards staff CPD.

How it works
- Enquire with your postcode and team size. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Tell us about the people you support: the types of stoma and appliances your team works with, so your trainer can build the session around them.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and anything specific to your setting.
- On the day: the theory, then changing and emptying appliances step by step, with time for questions.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
- Then your own supervised competency sign-off, as with any clinical skill.

What the law says
In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) and Regulation 18 (staffing) expect staff giving clinical care to have the qualifications, competence, skills and experience to do it safely, and Regulation 10 (dignity and respect) expects people's privacy and dignity to be protected. A training record, followed by your own competency sign-off against each person's care plan, is the evidence inspectors expect to see.
How we assess learning
The trainer takes staff through changing and emptying appliances step by step and tests understanding through questions, discussion and case studies, with feedback as they go. After the course, your own supervised competency sign-off confirms each person in practice, against the care plan.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real. They're a specialist clinical trainer, and they keep dignity at the centre of every practical step. Clinical training like this counts towards staff CPD.

Cost explained
Clinical courses are priced by location: they're taught by specialist clinical trainers, and the price depends on where you are and how far your trainer needs to travel. Send us your postcode and team size and we'll confirm the price within 48 hours. It's one price for the group, up to 10 staff — not per person — and it covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials.

Frequently asked questions
Does it replace the stoma nurse's advice?
No. Staff work to the person's care plan and the stoma nurse's guidance; the course means they understand it and know when to get in touch.
Which stomas and appliances does it cover?
Colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy, and one-piece, two-piece, drainable and closed appliances.
What problems will staff learn to spot?
Sore or broken skin, leaks, changes in the stoma such as retraction, prolapse or a hernia, and signs of a blockage — and when to contact the stoma nurse.
How is this different from continence care training?
Continence care is about bladder and bowel continence and continence products. Stoma care is for people whose urine or faeces passes through a stoma into an appliance. Teams supporting both often book the two together.
What do we need to provide, and is there anything else to pay?
A room, a projector screen or blank wall, and any equipment we agree with you for the practical. The price we quote covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials, so there are no surprise extras.
Can it be done online?
No. It's a practical clinical skill, so it's on-site.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
