Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion for your training file. It isn't a regulated qualification. How often staff refresh is set by your policy, and we'll recommend a refresh interval when you enquire. Your team leaves fully trained and ready for the usual final step with any clinical skill: your own supervised competency sign-off against your policies. The training counts towards staff CPD.

How it works
- Enquire with your postcode and team size. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Agree the practical equipment: tell us whether your service uses T34 drivers, so staff can practise on the device they'll use.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and anything specific to your setting.
- On the day: the theory, then set-up, routine monitoring, and alarm and troubleshooting scenarios.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
- Then your own supervised competency sign-off, as with any clinical skill.
What the course covers

- Choosing and inspecting the subcutaneous site
- Starting, pausing and stopping an infusion
- Routine monitoring and what to record
- Alarms, occlusions and troubleshooting
- Site reactions, and when to escalate
- Working within your policy, the prescription and pharmacy advice

- set up, load and start a T34 syringe driver to a prescription

Who needs this training
- Registered nurses and nursing associates
- Senior care staff whose role includes managing syringe drivers under your policy
- Teams in hospices, nursing homes, community and palliative care
A refresher is advised after any gap in using the skill, followed by your own supervised competency sign-off.
What the law says
Syringe drivers carry real risk if they're set up or monitored wrongly. In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) and Regulation 18 (staffing) expect staff who manage them to have the qualifications, competence, skills and experience to do it safely, and similar expectations apply across the UK. A training record, followed by your own competency sign-off, is the evidence inspectors expect to see. Prescribing and drug compatibility stay with the prescriber and pharmacist.
How we assess learning
Staff work through set-up, routine monitoring, and alarm and troubleshooting scenarios, with feedback from the trainer, and understanding is tested through questions and discussion. After the course, your own supervised competency sign-off confirms each person in practice.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real. They're a specialist clinical trainer, and they keep to the clinical skill — set-up and monitoring — leaving prescribing to the prescriber. Clinical training like this counts towards staff CPD.

Cost explained
Clinical courses are priced by location: they're taught by specialist clinical trainers, and the price depends on where you are and how far your trainer needs to travel. Send us your postcode and team size and we'll confirm the price within 48 hours. It's one price for the group, up to 10 staff — not per person — and it covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials.

Frequently asked questions
Do you bring a syringe driver?
We'll agree the equipment for the practical when you enquire. If your service has T34 drivers, using your own means staff practise on the device they'll use.
We use a different pump.
Tell us the model when you enquire and we'll confirm whether it can be covered.
Does this cover which drugs to use?
No. Prescribing and drug compatibility are for the prescriber and pharmacist. The course covers safe set-up and monitoring.
How is this different from palliative care training?
Palliative care training covers the wider care of people with a life-limiting illness: comfort, communication and supporting families. This course is the clinical skill of managing a syringe driver. Teams in end-of-life care often need both.
What do we need to provide, and is there anything else to pay?
A room, a projector screen or blank wall, and any equipment we agree with you for the practical. The price we quote covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials, so there are no surprise extras.
Can it be done online?
No. It's a practical clinical skill, so it's on-site.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
