What the law says
Food hygiene law across the UK, based on Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, requires food business operators to make sure food handlers are supervised and instructed or trained in food hygiene to a level that matches their work. That applies to care homes, nurseries and schools that prepare or serve food, as well as cafés, restaurants and staff canteens. The law doesn't require a particular certificate; training shows staff understand the risks and follow your food safety procedures — and gives you evidence for your training file.
How we assess learning
Learning is checked throughout the session through questions and discussion.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and teaches food safety in terms of the way your staff actually handle food — whether that's a care home kitchen, a nursery snack table or a staff café — answering their questions as they go.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a Level 2 food hygiene course?
No. It's a three-hour awareness course with a Kasorb certificate of completion. If you need the regulated Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, we also run it as a one-day course with a multiple-choice exam — ask us.
Do food handlers need a certificate by law?
No. The law requires food handlers to be supervised and instructed or trained to a level that matches their work, but it doesn't require a particular certificate. Training and a certificate for your file are how most settings show it.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff per session — not a recorded module. It's knowledge-based, so it works well online.
How is this different from infection control training?
Food safety covers keeping food safe to eat, from storage to serving. Infection Control covers how infections spread across your service, with hand hygiene, PPE, spills and clinical waste.
Why not e-learning?
E-learning gives everyone the same slides. Here, a trainer talks your team through the way they actually store, prepare and serve food, and answers their questions as they go. For a full group of 12 it works out at around £41 a head — and two sessions in one day train up to 24 for the same price.
How long does the certificate last?
Three years.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm bookings within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
