- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics, and to understand your workplace and why you're appointing mental health first aiders.
- Two days, on-site or live online — practical and conversation-based, with case studies and practice conversations. The subject is handled with care.
- Certificates are emailed the day after the second day.

What the law says
Employers must assess and manage risks to their staff's health, including work-related stress and mental ill health — under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 in Great Britain, with equivalent regulations in Northern Ireland. No law requires mental health first aiders, but many employers appoint them as part of how they meet that duty, alongside HSE's Management Standards for work-related stress.
How we assess learning
Learning is checked through practice conversations, case studies and questions throughout both days.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real, and runs the course as a conversation, not a lecture. They handle the subject with care — some staff will have their own experience of mental ill health, and the trainer allows for that.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the Mental Health First Aid England course?
No. It's Kasorb's own course. It isn't delivered, licensed or certified by Mental Health First Aid England, and staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion.
How is this different from mental health awareness training?
Mental health awareness is a half or full day that builds awareness across a whole team. This two-day course goes further, preparing named people to support colleagues and respond safely in a crisis.
Is this therapy or counselling training?
No. Mental health first aiders listen, support and signpost — they don't diagnose or treat.
How many mental health first aiders do we need?
There's no legal ratio. Most employers base it on headcount, shift patterns and sites, so someone is always available.
Can the two days be split?
Tell us when you enquire if you'd like the days apart, and we'll let you know what's possible.
Can it be done online?
Yes, live with a trainer, for up to 12 staff.
Why not e-learning?
Supporting someone through a difficult conversation is a skill you practise, not one you read about. Staff rehearse real conversations with a trainer and get feedback as they go. For a full group of 12, £990+VAT works out at around £83 a head.
How long does the certificate last?
We recommend a refresher every three years.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
