Compliance and certification
Staff receive a Kasorb certificate of completion for your training file. It isn't a regulated qualification. How often staff refresh is set by your policy, and we'll recommend a refresh interval when you enquire. Your team leaves fully trained and ready for the usual final step with any clinical skill: your own supervised competency sign-off against your policies. The training counts towards staff CPD.

How it works
- Enquire with your postcode and team size. We'll come back with a price within 48 hours. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
- Agree the practical equipment: tell us which spirometer your team uses, so staff can practise on the device they'll use in clinic.
- Your trainer calls beforehand to confirm logistics and anything specific to your setting.
- On the day: the theory, then coaching and recording blows and assessing them against the quality criteria.
- Certificates are emailed the next day.
- Then your own supervised competency sign-off, as with any clinical skill.

Who needs this training
- Practice nurses

Staff who perform or interpret diagnostic spirometry in adults in England also need ARTP certification.
What the law says
In England, national guidance expects healthcare professionals who perform or interpret diagnostic spirometry in adults to hold certification from the Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology (ARTP) and be on the national spirometry register, recertifying every three years. This course builds and refreshes the practical skills behind good spirometry; it doesn't award ARTP certification.
In England, CQC's Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) also expects staff to have the qualifications, competence, skills and experience to carry out tests safely.
How we assess learning
Each member of staff coaches and records spirometry under observation, and the trainer reviews the results against the quality criteria, with feedback. After the course, your own supervised competency sign-off confirms each person in practice.
Your trainer
Your trainer has used these skills for real. They're a specialist clinical trainer, and they focus on the coaching and quality control that make results usable. Clinical training like this counts towards staff CPD.

Cost explained
Clinical courses are priced by location: they're taught by specialist clinical trainers, and the price depends on where you are and how far your trainer needs to travel. Send us your postcode and team size and we'll confirm the price within 48 hours. It's one price for the group, up to 10 staff — not per person — and it covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials.

Frequently asked questions
Does this give ARTP certification?
No. ARTP certification is a separate assessment. This course builds the practical skills staff need, or refreshes them.
Will staff be able to interpret results?
They'll recognise normal, obstructive and restrictive patterns. Diagnostic interpretation needs ARTP certification.
Who needs to be on the national spirometry register?
In England, healthcare professionals who perform or interpret diagnostic spirometry in adults are expected to hold ARTP certification and be on the national register, recertifying every three years.
Do we need our own spirometer?
We'll agree the equipment when you enquire. Practising on your own spirometer is best, so staff use the device they'll use in clinic.
What do we need to provide, and is there anything else to pay?
A room, a projector screen or blank wall, and any equipment we agree with you for the practical. The price we quote covers your trainer, their travel and the course materials, so there are no surprise extras.
Can it be done online?
No. It's a practical clinical skill, so it's on-site.
How quickly can you come?
We confirm within 48 hours, and we recommend booking at least four weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. If you need something sooner, just ask.
